Grow

As a wedding gift, our friend Farmer D [More Info Here] gifted us with some awesome raised beds to grow an organic garden. We have two 3”x6” boxes that we seeded last fall to grow a variety of plants including beets, arugula, snap peas, radishes, and turnips.
This year, we were too late to seed, so we bought transplants at Farmer D’s store in Atlanta [Map It]. Here’s what we’re growing: sweet potatoes (3 different kinds, 2 plants each), cucumber, zucchini, tomatillos, jalepenos, poblanos, green bell peppers, traveler tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, orange mint, basil, Thai basil, oregano, parsley, cilantro, & chives. We did have a plant for Serrano peppers, but Wrangler (big brown dog) decided that the plant was better eaten than left alone.
Here’s a shot of the veggie garden:

Sweet potato plant

Cucumber plant- notice the little flowers and thin climbing vines- they have successfully grabbed every plant in their vicinity lately.

Zucchini- they’re growing underneath the flowers. We had no idea they grew this way!

Flower of the tomatillo plant. We are excited to see how these grow considering tomatillos grow with husks.

Snap peas left over from fall

 A baby cherry tomato!

Here’s a close-up:

We have a box on our deck with herbs. Here’s your run-of-the-mill (read: delicious) basil.

And some Thai basil for variety. The purple hue is beautiful!

And oregano:

We'll keep you updated with what we actually harvest and cook with- the possibilities are endless!
